Providing Food

Sacred Land contributes to the provision of the food for the monks of Tengboche and would like to concentrate now on the improvement of the food for the nuns at Thubten Choling.  The monastery is a Tibetan refugee community and the people living there are very poor and the population is in great need of better nutrition.  Presently,  people there are living on potatoes and tea.  There is an urgent need to improve the quality of foot by providing them proteins and vitamins.  Therefore, we started supplying them with the common nepali diet of Dahl (lentils) and some locally grown vegetables.

THERE ARE NO OVERHEAD COST. ALL DONATIONS ARE BUYING FOOD DIRECTLY FROM THE FARMERS IN THE LOCAL AREA!

Housing Improvement – Roofs for the Anis

People in Thubten Choling living under the most appalling living condition. In monsoon season  it is wet and in winter, at an altitude of about 3.000 meter  it is bitter cold. Houses are built of stone and mud and roofs are made of wood. They are difficult to maintain and expensive.  Also it places a threat to the environment to use precious wood as roofing materials.  Most roofs are leaking and there are no chimneys for the open wood fires.  Arthritis, Colds, TB, Skin infections and other diseases related to poor living condition affect virtually everybody.

The tin shed roofing activity of Sacred Land is very successful. Nearly 180 roofs are covered and the health situation is improving. Tin sheets are expensive and carried by a  porter for three days to reach the village. One roof and a small stove cost around Euro 300.00 and there are still 80 houses to be covered.

ALSO HERE THERE ARE NO OVERHEAD COST.  TIN SHEETS ARE BOUGHT AT THE FACTORY AND CARRIED TO THE HOUSES. THE LOCAL PEOPLE WORK AND COVER THE ROOF FREE OF COSTS!

Education for Children

Sacred Land provides the salary for the teachers, textbooks and teaching materials, and clothing for the kids at the monastery school.  There are around 35 children in TDarjeeling and a child there requires about Euro 1.50 to support.

Prayers

In Thubten Choling there are 500 nuns and monks and they are praying daily for all kind of couses and problems. They are spending their lives for the betterment of all sentient beings.  All of them are bound by the vow not to pass into nirvana until the suffering of the whole universe comes to an end. Donations to support them is very common among the local communities and it is believed it provides huge merit. Please support the nuns during their prayers. All donation go to the monastery to support ceremonies and prayers.

Bumpas or Peace Vases

One of the major activities of Tengboche Rinpoche is the preparation, blessing and placement of Bumpas and Peace Vases around the world.  His vases are well known and everybody respects them in the Solu-Khumbu.  In his view, the modern world is lacking merit and therefore living condition within the universe is gradually deteriorating. Consequently, his placement of holy objects or Bumpas around the world counteracts all the negative activities and creates positive circuumstances for healing and a better future.

Presently, Rinpoche is collecting the ingredients for more vases and we are lacking the financial means to provide more of them. Please give generously to support this noble activity of Tengboche Rinpoche. Thank You!
