Objectives

medicinal herbs

Generally, medicinal plants are under threat due to over-harvesting, and with the new interest worldwide this situation  is deteriorating. In Nepal, poor villagers often harvest medical plants growing at high altitudes, in vulnerable mountain ecosystems  without any awareness of the long-term consequences. The medicinal  part of many plants is the roots and unskilled collection of medicinal and aromatic plants can endanger the viability of local  plant populations. Wholesale collection leaves very few plants to set  seed. Hence many of the plants growing in the Himalayas are under threat and some vital ingredients for traditional herbal medicines are now unavailable. Therefore main objective is to create a high altitude medical herb  gardens and plantation  for the sustainable use and conservation of medicinal plants indigenous to the Solu Khumbu district of Nepal.

The production of herbal teas, incenses and other therapeutic   products to cross-subsidize the medical gardens and pharmacy

Many of the visitors to the Mount Everest region are very health   conscious and open to alternative and traditional health care, which   is much more hollopathic than western medicine and often very   effective for chronic aliments such as arthritis and stress related   sickness. The medical gardens are an extremely long term project with   very high fixed capital costs in the land. Many of the plants take   three to five years before they can be harvested. The sale of locally   made herbal teas with healing properties mean that the plantation   and making of medicines can be sustained. It is our objective to   support the medical gardens and traditional methods of making   medicine through the marketing of  popular therapeutic products  such as the 'Wild Mountain Rose' herbal tea. These will   be available locally and through our online  shopping.

The production of herbal teas, incenses and other therapeutic  products to cross-subsidise the medical gardens and pharmacy.

Another important aim of Sacred Land is to produce high quality,  traditional medicines and blessing pills. Plants which grow at high altitude and in the crystal clear environment of Khumbu, have a very high quality and potency. No artificial fertilizers or chemicals are used so they are completely natural.
