Namaste, Tashidelek and Welcome to the exhibition at Tengboche Eco Centre.

Tengboche Monastery Over three thousand people visited the Visitors' Centre at Tengboche Monastery  in the first year it was established. Many people spend a lot of time making notes and copying down information from the exhibition. Given the amount of interest, we wanted to make the information more easily available, so we have made this website. We are sorry that we cannot put all the wonderful photos that we have used in the exhibition here on the web, but in the future, we hope to make a book including them.

See also the sections on Buddhism which will better explain the underlying philosophy of the Centre.

In the meantime, please come to Tengboche yourself and see what is so special.

For as Rinpoche says:

'I know that people come from very far away to see Everest,
and the Snow Mountains. Tengboche is a peaceful place,
a sacred place. I hope you will come and enjoy it.

Happiness depends on the mind. An open, peaceful mind is very
beneficial and helps others. From a Buddhist point of view, this is
very important. Perhaps it is difficult for you to reach Tengboche,
but on seeing the Himalayas, forests and monastery - you forget your suffering. To see you happy makes me happy too.'

This place, the Tengboche valley,
As if descended from the realm of gods.
The people of the world rush to come and see it.
Encircled by Snow Mountains, open pastures and great forests,
Deer abound in this place which resounds fresh and peaceful.
Flowing rivers swirl gently by,
Pure water endowed with eight great qualities.
Here the auspicious of natural goodness is supreme.
